Stopped in late night for a beer and a 6pk. Ended up getting awesome service from the manager who was incredibly knowledgeable of the craft beers. I also come here for lunch during the week and have always had awesome service. Stop in for a beer, it's great!

A stone's throw away from Blue Marsh Lake and at the intersection of Brownsville and State Hill road, you'll find Ganly's, an inviting, small-town bar/pub with Irish flair. What it lacks in whimsy is more than made up by its charming architecture and comfort food laden menu. Pub fare is the main attraction here, which includes a familiar offering of wings, nachos, quesadillas, fries, shrimp, and dips. It's comfort food at its finest, with a comforting atmosphere to boot. Beyond the finger food, I wouldn't recommend any of the entrees. Steaks and seafood are oft-overcooked and dry/tough. Stick with the sandwiches and apps, and you'll be in good hands. EERY LOCAL TIDBIT: Grocery store mogul Gary Redner of Redner's Market's was murdered shortly after exiting Ganly's Pub back in 2008. This is currently an unsolved murder. If you know anything that can help police catch Gary Redner's killer, you can call Crime Alert with your anonymous tip at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $120,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

Neat place! Food was good but not great but overall this was a good evening for me. The bartender was nice and the menu had plenty of options. Great beer selection! This is in the middle of nowhere though. Some people may like that but I am on the fence. The clientele they attract, at least when I was there was age appropriate for me. I will return when i have a chance to go out again.

Nice irish pub. Food was very good as was the service. Great value as well. Nice beer selection. Lots of rotating drafts. Will be back.

Another hometown spot that has vastly improved since I ate here as a child. I have to admit, I was a little turned off when my parents suggested going to Ganly's when I came home to visit them but they assured me that it was different and the beer list was the selling point. The place looks exactly the same as it always has but it seemed cleaner. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the bar and outdoor seating area as opposed to the dining room area. It was practically empty on that side o the restaurant. The bar staff were busy and the TVs were loud but it is supposed to be a casual atmosphere. The service was average as it was mostly kids home from college working the room. The beer list was definitely the selling point. They had a number of unique standard and rotating selections and they were relatively cheap. I don't think there were any choices above $8 which is always nice. The food was also good. The burgers seemed to be the highlight at my table. I went with the BBQ burger and it was exceptionally good. The beef was quality, the peppered cheese gave it some spice, and the BBQ sauce was made with bourbon. Overall, I would come here for the beer. The food was good for bar food but I can't say I would go back just to eat.

Astonished to find a place like this in the middle of rural PA. Really good beers on tap. Can't comment on the food. Came after the kitchen was closed, so just had a beer. Since I was staying at the Jesuit Retreat Center, had to try the Spencer Abbey Ale - really excellent.

Very nice Irish pub and restaurant. We had the French Dip. Everything about it was delicious and the hand-cut chips were tasty. The staff was very knowledgable about all the beers they carry. Very accommodating. Would come here again.

Food is good, service is good,But turn down the music. It is very annoying to hold a conversation and to have to compete with their background music. Will not be back.

Great food and drinks, just what a local pub should have.Beer selection is vast, and is always ice cold. Management and staff are outstanding!!! Bartender Erica was helpful and attentive.

I wanted to write up something short about Ganly's Pub and Restaurant, since I visit from time to time on a whim. Recently they have undergone a transformation; inside renovation and a complete overhaul of menu and beer selection. It now offers one of the best beer selections in the area, and a menu of "Authentic" Irish food. I've tried many things on the menu and I've been pretty satisfied with it as a whole. The Meatloaf was a bit dry, but the Reuben was spot-on. I will say that for all of the good things Ganly's has going for it, there was one glaring, personally insulting negative; no mashed potatoes before 4. I shouldn't have to rant on about how crazy that is as a policy, especially for an establishment that touts Irish food and serves lunch so I digress. A simple fix, and one I'd highly recommend. Give Ganly's a change for lunch sometime. Ask for a good pairing beer to go with your meal.

I am a little surprised by the raves of good food here. It is a neat little place away from everything (love that) but the food is only ok. Not worth really going to if you are looking for a really good meal. But, if you just want some bar type irish food and a drink near the lake... this is the place for you.

Really cool place. Excellent food, friendly staff, and the musician when I was there was fantastic. I highly recommend, and can't wait to get back.

After 20 plus years this Pub saw its first changes and they're great changes. New bar, new menu, new management, very knowledgeable bartender and new owner. Huge new copper bar with a great selection of craft beer. The roasted pear salad is bangin!

Can't beat their prices! They have different specials and the prime rib is good every time. We always have a pleasant server and the managers always check in to make sure we are satisfied. Great place to check out.

I live right in walking distance, been here a few times. Nothing bad to say, people are nice, seems clean. But nothing stands out. Food is ok, kind of blah, go here in a pinch kinda thing.

This is Berks best kept secret! I've been coming here for a long time and they recently made some HUGE changes. New huge bar with a crazy amount of awesome beers! The new menu is fantastic. Everything was so good. I had the cheese board with assorted cheeses as an appetizer and a great salad with roasted pears and candied walnuts. My husband had the steam shrimp and said they were cooked to perfection! DEFINITELY going back! Loved the service and the manager came over to talk to us and recommended some great beers. Can't wait for drinks this summer on the patio!

I go to Ganley's sometimes because I go by it twice a day to and from work. I have had dinner there and it wasn't bad but nothing that will knock your socks off. Yesterday, I grabbed a Ruben sandwich on the way home. Ganley's Pub is suppose to be an Irish pub. It was probably the worse ruben sandwhich I ever had. My cafeteria at work makes a ruben and it has really thick pieces of corned beef, is a lot less expensive, and it's 3 times the size. Ganley's ruben had incredibly thin pieces of corned beef and the smallest amount I had ever seen. I was very disappointed. They need to re-think having that on their menu because it's embarrassing

Typical pub fare -- decent beer selection, decent food. A good, convenient after-blue-marsh hangout.
